On Friday, network executives told the Television Critics Association that a live episode of the comedy has been commissioned after series executive producers Lorne Michaels and Tina Fey greelit the idea. The show will be performed twice so that both East and West Coast viewers get to see it that way.
This isn’t the first time NBC has gone live on primetime in the name of comedy: The Peacock has aired live episodes for other shows, including the now-defunct hit Will & Grace.
