Bad week to be a former Idol.
American Idol alum Asia’h Epperson was arrested and charged with assault on Wednesday. According to on-site snoops, Epperson, 21, and her sister attacked an unidentified woman in the restroom of posh Los Angeles nightspot The Colony.
In 2008, the Southern belle made it to the Top 16 on the seventh season of Idol. Her touching backstory involved the death of her dad in a car accident a few days before her audition in Atlanta. Despite being voted off the competition just a week shy of landing a spot in the Top 12, Asia’h managed to snag a recording contract Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds’ Sodapop Records through Island Def Jam.
Asia’h is not the only ex-A.I. contestant to find herself on the wrong side of the headlines this week. Fantasia Barrino — who won a Grammy nomination after winning the third season of the hit talent show — was hospitalized in North Carolina Monday after taking an overdose of aspirin and sleeping pills.
The singer became deathly depressed after her affair with a married cellphone salesman became tabloid fodder over the weekend.
