The NYPD’s Special Victims Unit is headed West.
Next week, Big Apple-based crime drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will film an episode on the West Coast for the first time in the show’s 12 season history, Access Hollywood tipsters tattled on Tuesday.
The Sept. 29 episode will see the Stabler, Fin, and the rest of the badge-wielding gang from the hit police procedural abandoning the streets of Manhattan to investigate a rape kit, which will take Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) from New York City to Los Angeles. Hargitay, 46, will shoot scenes for the still-untitled episode while she is in the City of Angels for the Primetime Emmy Awards later this month. The Emmy winner is once again up for a prize in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
SVU Goes West will also introduce L&O devotees to Det. Rex Winters (Skeet Ulrich), a central character on the buzzed-about new NBC series Law & Order: Los Angeles, which makes its debut immediately following SVU, in Wednesday nights’ 10PM timeslot.
