“A Christmas Story” Musical!

Ralphie’s quest for the Red Ryder BB Gun is coming to the live stage. A Christmas Story: The Musical — a theatrical show based on the 1983 holiday classic — opens with live shows at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre on Dec. 9!

Next stop Broadway?

The show features an original score by Benj Paske and Justin Paul, a book by Joseph Robinette and direction by Eric Rosen. Peter Billingsley — who starred in the beloved Christmas film — has signed on to executive produce the musical adaptation.

“A Christmas Story has always meant a lot to me personally,” says Billingsley, best remembered for his protrayal of nine-year-old Ralphie Parker, a bespectacled boy desperate to prove that he can tote a BB gun with the best of ‘em — without “putting his eye out” of course.

“I’m excited to bring this film to the stage because the story and the characters lend themselves so well to the world of musicals,” Billingsley adds. “I am honored to be a part of this project and look forward to bringing the play to more stages. Just think about the idea of a leg-lamp kickline.”
