Stunt enthusiast Ryan Dunn, the bearded bad boy who appeared in all three of the Jackass movies, died in a car crash in West Goshen Township, Pennsylvania early Monday.

The 34-year-old daredevil, famous for shoving a toy car into his rectum in the first Jackass movie, was the driver of a 2007 Porsche 911 GTS that burst into flames after crashing at Route 322 and New Street in West Goshen at approximately 2:30 AM Monday morning. Police say “preliminary investigation revealed that speed may have been a contributing factor to the accident.” Could alcohol have been a fact? It’s possible, just hours before his death, Dunn posted a photo on his Twitter account showing himself drinking with friends. The authorities are withholding the identity of Dunn’s passenger pending identification and notificiation of next of kin.

MTV issued this statement shortly after news of Dunn’s death broke: “We’re deeply saddened by the passing of a member of the MTV family, Ryan Dunn. Our hearts and thoughts are with his friends and family….Dunn kicked off his career doing crazy stunts and skateboard tricks in a series of online videos, which eventually led to his part in MTV’s ‘Jackass’ in 2000. The daredevil was a key member of the crew, appearing in ‘Jackass’ spin-offs like ‘Viva La Bam’ and ‘Bam’s Unholy Union,’ as Bam’s sidekick and often acting as the voice of reason within the zany crew. … He even took a stab at Hollywood, with a role in non-’Jackass’ projects like the Jessica Simpson flick ‘Blonde Ambition’ and on the NBC procedural staple ‘Law & Order: SVU.’”

After finding success with Jackass, Dunn enjoyed a one-season run with his own show, Homewrecker — which showed the prankster helping practical jokes victims get revenge. Dunn also recently hosted a show called Proving Ground on cable’s G4 network.
