Michael Jackson’s father Joe has revealed that a 300-million-dollar museum and arts center dedicated to the pop legend may be built next year.

The King of Pop had visited his hometown Gary, Indiana, in 2003 to discuss the project, but no progress had been made.

Joe said that he was “just carrying out his legacy” by reviving the plan.

“This is a happy day for me because this is something that my family and Michael have always wanted. We”re bringing something back,” the Telegraph quoted Joe, as saying.

Also, Gary Mayor Rudy Clay hopes the Jackson Family Museum and Hotel and the Michael Jackson Performing Arts and Cultural Center and Theatres will help generate 100 million dollars to 150 million dollars in income for the community each year.

He added that at least 750,000 people are expected to visit the shrine every year, once it is built.

Clay said: “This project will be the magnet that will draw people from all over the world.”
