In an unfortunate incident, 43 people are feared killed when a boat carrying nearly 60 passengers overturned on Monday in the Ganga River in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the reports, local authorities have recovered 20 bodies so far. It is reported that 17 people were able to swim the river and saved their life. The police have estimated that the number of dead was likely to go beyond 40.
The police fears that more people have been swept away into the river due to the force of the river water. A team of rescuers had scanned the river and its banks to find any survivors.
