Former Ugly Betty producer Salma Hayek is developing an eight-hour miniseries adaptation of the book Wicked for ABC — the same network that passed on the television event in 2009 — says The Hollywood Reporter.

Gregory Maguire’s novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West has already spawned a popular stageplay in the form of the award-winning Broadway musical Wicked (Sound familiar?), now the piece chronicling the real-life tales of the Witches of Oz is being re-adapted into a teleplay penned by Band of Brothers writer Erik Jendresen.

A film based on the musical version of the book is already in the works at Universal.
