Adam Sandler is alive and well, thank you very much. But try telling that to those pesky Tweeters around the Interwebs.
On Tuesday evening, a publicist for the Click actor shot down reports that the funnyman died in a Christmas Day fall off a cliff in Switzerland. You know — the same manner of demise used in the Jeff Goldblum death hoax of 2009. By mid-afternoon, Internet was abuzz with rumors that Sandler passed away after suffering fatal injuries during the skiing mishap.
Turns out the whole thing was just one big misunderstanding — and a major pain for Sandler’s PR team.
“It’s completely not true and such irresponsible journalism,” fumed Adam’s rep.
Sandler is the latest star who has had to respond to a holiday death hoax – publicists representing Morgan Freeman, Aretha Franklin, Charlie Sheen, and actor-singer Aaron Carter have also spoken out to clear up fictional reports of their clients’ deaths.
