On Tuesday, Aerosmith announced that the band will be embarking on an 18 city US tour this summer.
The trek will be the 40-year-old band’s first since frontman Steven Tyler took a tumble off a stage and shattered his shoulder during a show in Arizona last summer. The incident forced the rockers to can their summer 2009 tour. Aerosmith spent much of last year in turmoli after a public spat between Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry. Tyler later said he wanted to take a break from the 40-year-old band and go solo. His bandmates balked, claiming that Tyler was hooked on painkillers again. Tyler, 62, returned to rehab last December and in February, the band reunited and announced a European tour. The guys say they’re stoked to bring their “Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock Tour” to the States after touring Europe in June for the first time in three years.
After warming up with seven dates in South America, the new tour will kick off on July 23 in Oakland, California. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 4.
