American Idol producers have announced that age limit for contestants to audition has been reduced from 16 to 15 years. Executive producer of the show Cecil Frot-Coutaz has said that a lot of young talented people are now coming in the field of singing and making it a career and they do it before they turn 16.
The show has not announced any replacement for the judge Simon Cowell, who had to leave in May. The auditions for the tenth series of the show began on July 17 and six US cities will be covered on the tour. But the selected candidates are not likely to present their talent before the reputed judge until September.
Frot-Coutaz has said that by lowering of the age limit, the talent can be tapped early. Guest judges including Victoria Becham and Shania Twain were brought in the show last year.
