Amy Locane, who appeared on the original incarnation of the FOX drama Melrose Place in the 1990s, has been arrested and charged in a fatal DUI in New Jersey over the weekend.

Locane, 38, who also starred opposite Johnny Depp in the nostalgic 1990 film Cry-Baby, was driving her Chevy Tahoe in Montgomery, New Jersey on Sunday night when she struck another vehicle, which was turning into a driveway, according to The Star-Ledger. Fred and Helene Seeman, 60, were in the second car. Fred was airlifted to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. He remains in critical condition. His wife, Helene, was killed on impact.

Amy — who played Sandy Louise Harling, a Southern belle and aspiring actress who worked as a waitress at local watering-hole Shooters on the first season of the primetime soap — suffered only minor cuts to her foot.

With red-rimmed eyes and reeking of alcohol, Locane admitted drinking several glasses of wine before taking the wheel of her car. Just moments before the fatal crash, Locane rear-ended another vehicle at an intersection a few miles away, according to Somerset County Acting Prosecutor A. Peter DeMarco Jr. She fled the scene, but the victim in that crash followed the fallen star and witnessed her “swerving” and knocking down several mailboxes.

In a Garden State courtroom Monday, the actress was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by auto. She is being held at the Somerset County Jail on $50,000 cash bail. If convicted, Amy Locane faces up to 10 years in state prison.
