There’s good news for fans of the coolest animated spy on TV, “Archer” is confirmed for a fourth season. In addition, FX has signed an overall deal with “Archer” producers Adam Reed, Matt Thompson and their company Floyd County Productions.
FX exec Nick Grad says in a statement, “It was an easy decision to order more ‘Archer.’ Adam, Matt, and our amazing voice cast are delivering one of the funniest and smartest shows on television. It has deservedly grown beyond its initial cult following to become both a critical and ratings success.” The fourth season will feature 13 episodes.
As for the overall deal, Reed says that he is “insanely excited that FX Productions has committed to a multi-year deal.” Thompson adds, “We hope to build on this, growing into a giant animating monster that will eventually take over the world.”
Ratings for “Archer” continue to grow in its third season. Compared with its Season 2 averages, the show is up 44 percent in the coveted 18-49 demo and is averaging 2 million overall viewers. Reed’s other FX show “Unsupervised,” however, continues to lag in the ratings. The Feb. 16 broadcast brought in fewer than 800,000 total viewers.
