Balthazar Getty is departing his role as Tommy Walker on the hit ABC show Brothers & Sisters, Entertainment Weekly TV gossips have learned.

Getty has decided to leave the series ahead of its upcoming fifth season. Sources tell EW.com that the star’s departure was a “creative decision” and the absence of his character will be explained in next month’s season premiere.

Getty is the third series regular to exit the cash-strapped drama, which also features Sally Field and Calista Flockhart. Rob Lowe dumped the show in favor of a gig on NBC’s Parks & Recreation, while Emily VanCamp opted not to renew her contract last month.
