His new haircut may have cost him 80,000 Twitter followers, but Justin Bieber Fever is alive, well, and spreading across the globe. The “Eenie Meenie” sensation, who turns 17 Tuesday, has become the most downloaded artist across Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
Ahead of his debut global My World Tour, which kicks off March 4 in the Britain, Bieber has seen a 350 percent increase in music downloads abroad since Jan. 2010, according to Nokia’s Ovi Music. Statistics have India pegged as the global hotspot for Beliebers, accounting for 28 percent of all Internet sales of Bieber tunes, followed by China with 16 percent, Finland with 13 percent, and Britain with nine.
The Biebs’ breakout hit “Baby,” “One Time,” and and the ballad “Somebody to Love” top the list of the singer’s most downloaded singles.
