Em — Television icon Bob Barker doesn’t seem very impressed with the job comedian Drew Carey’s been doing since succeeding him as host of the The Price Is Right in 2007.
TMZ.com cameras caught up with the outspoken animal rights activist in Los Angeles this week, where he spoke briefly about Carey’s hosting style, which Barker feels lacks the “excitement” that has kept the show on the air for nearly 40 years.
“I tried to make the show exciting. He just plays the games…He does it differently than I did,” Barker smiled thoughtfully.
Perhaps you missed the memo, Bob, but there are reportedly some “big changes” looming for America’s oldest game show.
The biggest change is the departure of longtime announcer Rich Fields, which Fields confirmed in a statement to fans earlier this month. Fields, who has been telling contestants to “come on down” since 2004, wrote that his replacement will be an improv comic, someone who’ll be chosen via on-air auditions.
