‘Buckwild’ star’s car partially submerged in mud

It was a concerned friend who eventually located the body of Buckwild’s Shain Gandee, whose Ford Bronco was found partially submerged in mud early Monday.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office in West Virginia, Gandee, 21, was discovered in the car with his uncle David Gandee, 48, and Donald Robert Myers, 27 — all from Sissonville. Mud covered the lower part of the passenger side door, while the muffler was completely submerged.

The men were last seen at a Sissonville bar early Sunday, where they talked about going four-wheeling. Family and friends searched for the men Sunday before calling 911.

Gandee’s Bronco was found next to a trail that’s passable for four-wheel drive vehicles, the sheriff’s department said. It’s also a mile from Gandee’s home near Thaxton Hollow in Sissonville. Authorities had to use a bulldozer to retrieve the car.

The bodies were taken to the medical examiner’s office, where autopsies will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Meanwhile, production has been suspended on the second season of Buckwild, which was recently renewed by MTV. The show, which focused on Gandee and eight other carefree 20-somethings from Sissonville, averaged 3 million viewers in Jersey Shore‘s old Thursdays-at-10 p.m. slot.
