Hollywood star Michael Douglas has blamed his throat cancer on the stress he has endured over the past 12 months.
According to the Daily Mirror, Douglas opened up on his illness as he went on a publicity blitz for his new film ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ in which he reprises his role as Gordon Gekko.
“This type of cancer can be brought on by alcohol and tobacco abuse and by a certain type of sexually transmitted reason, but I look on it as stress,” News.com.au quoted him as saying.
“I”ve had a pretty stressful year on a number of fronts, some of which were public and some of which weren”t,” he said.
Douglas” son Cameron, 41, was jailed earlier this year for five years after he pleaded guilty to drug dealing in the US.
And he also battled a crazed stalker in the early years of his marriage to Catherine Zeta Jones, while in 2004 his half-brother Eric died after a battle with drugs and alcohol.
