Glee will instead be welcoming actress Dot Jones as the school’s new football coach, Shannon Bestie, TVGuide.com said Tuesday. The new character is being touted as a potential new rival for Jane Lynch’s Cheerios cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester. According to industry snitches with the mag’s Keck’s Exclusives Column, Gallagher’s Coach Tanaka “ran his course after failing in his attempt to marry Emma. “
Gallagher has not been written into the show’s future episodes.
