Courteney Cox is the Susan Lucci on the Primetime Emmys. The former “Friend” and star of ABC’s hit comedy Cougar Town is breaking her silence on being the only member of the Friends ensemble to never receive a Primetime Emmy nomination.
Cox earned millions of dollars playing Monica on the NBC sitcom for 10 seasons, but it was Emmy gold that always seemed to elude the veteran actress. Her co-stars Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston were both Emmy winners for their work on the show. David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry received a nomination each, while Matt LeBlanc scored three.
“My ego got really bruised. When everyone did but me, that doesn’t feel good at all,” Cox, 46, explains in a chat with the September issue of Emmy Magazine. “There were certain years I thought, ‘Maybe I have a shot,’ like the Monica-Chandler years. But I don’t know how it happens and why … maybe I wasn’t ready.”
For old times sake, Cox’s dry spell continues. Cougar Town was snubbed by Emmy voters this year.
