The 19-year-old singing star, who rose to musical promience as Idol runner-up to champ David Cook in 2008, has been tipped to perform our National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” during this year’s “A Capitol Fourth” event in Washington — hosted by award-winning actor Jimmy Smits.
Now in its 30th year, “A Capitol Fourth” will broadcast live from the West Lawn of the US Capitol @ 8PM ET on PBS Sunday, July 4. Other performers already confirmed for the celebration include soul legend Gladys Knight, country stars Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker, and the National Symphony Orchestra.
