Derek Cianfrance, the writer/director of last year’s Blue Valentine , has found backing for his next project, The Place Beyond the Pines . Variety reports that Sidney Kimmel Entertainment will produce the original screenplay and that Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper are likely to star.
Gosling is said to already be attached to the project in the role of a motorcycle rider who, after having a child, begins robbing banks to support the baby. Cooper has been offered (but has not signed on) for the part of a rookie cop who goes up against Gosling’s character.
