Baywatch babe Donna D’Errico has sent out a “Prayer Request” to her fans and followers online after falling ill with a serious staph infection.
“Prayer request — this time for me — a serious medical issue has arisen. Thank you for any and all prayers,” the former pinup bombshell wrote in a posting to her Facebook page on Wednesday.
D’Errico is hospitalized in grave condition at a medical center in California after being infected with MRSA — methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus — a highly resistant and life-threatening bug that doesn’t respond well to normal antibiotics. Those close to the actress say she may have contracted the bug from a hospitalized relative. MRSA infections, sometimes called “super bugs,” can be life-threatening. Many public health experts are alarmed by the spread of tough strains of MRSA, which is sometimes called a “super bug” because of its resistance to treatment.
D’Errico, the former wife of Motley Crue rocker Nikki Sixx, is expected to be hospitalized for several more days.
D’Errico, who played Donna Marco on the ’90s beach drama, made headlines for an entirely different reason just last week. D’Errico, her boyfriend, and her 17-yea-old son were going through security at LAX Airport when she says TSA officials chose her for the intensive scanner that shows fliers’ naked forms. At the time, Donna argued that she was singled out due to her sex symbol status.
“It isn’t right to hide behind the veil of security and safety in order to take advantage of women, or even men for that matter, so that you can see them naked,” Donna told AOL News. “It’s a misuse of power and authority.”
Sending best wishes and good vibes to Donna!
