Philanthropy runs in the family! Doug Pitt — the brother of adoptive dad-humanitarian Brad — is doing his part to help those less fortunate too.
The Other Pitt is on Day 4 of a climb up Africa’s highest peak, Mt. Kilimanjaro. The photojournalist, a dad of three, is one of 50 climbers making the trek up the 19,340-foot-high mountain in an effort to bring clean, safe drinking water to African communities. Jessica Biel, as you may recall, completed the dangerous hike back in 2009.
“After an early wake-up call of 5:45 a.m. the team walked more than nine miles reaching an elevation of 14,800-feet for lunch,” Doug blogged on Thursday. “The pace has slowed to make sure that everyone’s bodies adjust to the new altitudes, but spirits are still high despite cold temperatures and frequent rain.”
The reGen Muscle Recovery Beverage Co. is donating $1 for every foot Pitt climbs as he and a team from WorldServe International try to raise money to build 50 freshwater wells.
