Move over, Hef & Portman. The web is buzzing over another Christmas engagement: This time it’s scandal-scarred lovers LeAnn Rimes, 28, and Eddie Cibrian, 37. Engagement buzz has been dogging the couple for months, now the pair who first met and fell in love as already married co-stars in the Lifetime Original Movie Northern Lights are taking the marriage plunge with each other.
“For those who haven’t read, Eddie and I got engaged over the holidays. That’s the news. It’s for real this tine and the first time EVER!” LeAnn Tweeted Monday.
Eddie popped the question over the holiday weekend with the help of a platinum sparkler with a 5-carat oval diamond set in rose gold fleur-de-lis connected to the band, those in-the-know tell PEOPLE.
She’s not Mom — or even Stepmom just yet — but LeAnn is already playing surrogate parents to Eddie’s two sons with model ex-wife Brandi Glanville.
In Touch Weekly claims LeAnn has gotten so involved in the lives of Mason, 7, and three-year-old Jake that she recently joined the Parent-Teacher Associtation at Mason’s Calabasas school.
“LeAnn loves those kids like they’re her own sons,” her friend explains. “She wanted to get involved in Mason’s school. Of course, Eddie thinks it’s a great idea and he’s very happy about it.”
