It was a Mad, Modern night — filled with very little Glee – at Sunday’s 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards.
Modern Family and Mad Men picked up the major prizes at the Jimmy Fallon-helmed ceremony, celebrating the year’s best and brightest, at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The series won the Emmy Awards for the Best TV Drama and Comedy series respectively. The win was the third in a row for the period advertising drama. Modern Family — a freshman ABC sitcom — beat the likes of fan favorite Glee and 30 Rock to win Outstanding Comedy Series, after already taking home Outstanding Writing for its pilot.
In addition, The Big Bang Jim Parsons and Edie Falco took home major acting trophies. Kyra Sedgwick won Best Drama Actress for The Closer, while Falco won a comedy Emmy for Nurse Jackie.
“We are so thrilled that families together are sitting down and watching a TV show,” Modern Family executive producer Steve Levitan said after the series beat Glee for the top comedy honors.
