Eva Longoria Parker will succeed “California Gurl” Katy Perry as host of this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards in Madrid, network chiefs said Wednesday.

The announcement came along with the unveiling of a lineup of electrifying performers — including Kings of Leon, Ke$ha, Kid Rock, two-time EMA host Katy Perry, and Linkin Park. Additional performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.

Eva couldn’t be more thrilled about putting on her hostess’ hat for one of European music’s biggest nights.

“I am so excited to host the 2010 EMAs in the beautiful and sexy city of Madrid!” says the Desperate Housewives star, who also hosted this year’s ALMA Awards. “I can’t wait to see some fabulous performances and I am so proud that the two most nominated artists this year are two amazing women — Lady Gaga and Katy Perry — who are making some of the most exciting music in pop right now.”

The 17th annual MTV EMAs will broadcast live from the Caja Magica in Spain on Nov. 7.
