Scott McIntyre, who made history as the first visually-impaired finalist to gain popularity on American Idol, is getting hitched.

The Idol Season 8 contestant, 25, recently popped the question to his girlfriend, Christina Teich, and the pair is set to wed later this year.
“Ok guys… I have an announcement to make… THIS IS BIG NEWS… (sic). It’s official.. I’m ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sic),” McIntyre announced in a Tweet to fans on Monday.
The couple will make their first public appearance together this Thursday, Feb. 24 at the A.I. Season 10 Top 24 party in Hollywood, according to Us Weekly.
MacIntyre placed eighth during his American Idol season, which saw Southerner Kris Allen taking top honors.
