Sue and Willie Coleman — the estranged parents of late child star Gary Coleman — want details on the reported fall that led to the actor’s death in a Utah hospital last Friday.
Coleman rose to fame in the late ’70s playing the precocious Arnold Jackson on the small hit Diff’rent Strokes.
He was rushed to the hospital following the fall at his home on Wednesday evening and diagnosed with an intracranial brain hemorrhage that forced his wife Shannon Price, 24, was forced to turn off his life support machine.
The pair had a tempestuous relationship, which saw both Shannon and Gary arrested on domestic violence charges over the past year.
The couple’s history of violence towards one another has left Gary’s parents questioning how the star actually died.
Sue says: “We would’ve loved to have been there by his side at the hospital, to let him know we love him before he passed away. This is a shock to us. We loved Gary very much. We’re going to miss him. We’re not pointing fingers at anyone, but we need to know exactly what happened. We’re not angry. We’re just concerned. Did our son fall down the stairs? Did he fall in the bathtub? We need to have some closure on our son’s life.”
Gary’s relationship with Willie and Sue had been strained for more than 20 years, ever since he filed suit against them for allegedly stealing his $18.2 million fortune.
A claim The Colemans continue to deny.
Despite Gary and Shannon’s rocky romance, Santaquin Police Chief Dennis Howard insists there is nothing suspicious about his passing: “There was absolutely nothing suspicious about Coleman’s death. There is no criminal investigation going on.”
