Week 31 of TAM 2014 was a bad week for Hindi general entertainment channels with all the leading GECs losing eyeballs. Life OK lost maximum 50 TVM in its gross viewership while Zee TV witnessed a marginal drop. There was no change in the pecking order of GECs this week.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 31 of TAM 2014 (July 27 – August 2) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus continued to lead the Hindi GEC genre followed by Zee TV at No. 2 and Colors at No. 3. Life OK, Sony and SAB TV remained at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Star Plus continued to lead the pack with a gross viewership of 677 GTVMs, a drop of 32 GTVM from last week. Despite the drop in its viewership, the channel’s relative share grew to 28.92% (last week 709 TVM with 28.70% relative share).

Zee TV recorded a gross viewership of 438 GTVM while its relative share shot up to 18.71% (last week 439 TVM and 17.77% relative share).

Colors too dropped by 23 TVM this week and the channel slipped to 375 GTVM with a relative share of 16.02% (last week 398 TVM with 16.11% relative share).

Life OK lost maximum eyeballs this week but the channel retained its No. 4 position. By losing 50 TVM, it recorded a gross viewership of 311 GTVM and a relative share of 13.28% (last week 361 TVM and 14.62%).

Sony too witnessed decline in its viewership this week and recorded 275 GTVM with a relative share of 11.75% (last week 288 TVM and 11.66% relative share).

SAB TV’s gross viewership was recorded at 265 GTVM with a relative share of 11.32% (last week 275 TVM and 11.13% relative share).

The decline in viewership of GECs was triggered by poor performances of their shows across weekdays and weekend. Except ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ on Zee TV, no other show managed to add eyeballs this week.

This week also witnessed SAB TV’s ‘Tarak Mehta’ going out from the top 10 weekday shows making way for Color’s ‘Sasural Simar Ka’. Besides, this week’s only show with more eyeballs, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ entered the top 5 club and claimed No. 4 position.
