GEC Watch: Weekday shows boost Zee TV

Filmfare Awards on Sony rated 6.2 TVM, while Nach Baliye Grand Finale on Star Plus fetched viewership of 6 TVM in Week 5 of TAM 2014. Life OK’s special episodes helped the channel touch another high

Week 5 of TAM 2014 saw two big events – ‘Filmfare Awards’ on Sony and ‘Nach Baliye Grand Finale’ on Star Plus. Both the events helped their channels add more viewers this week but the highlight of the week were the performance of Zee TV and Life OK. While Zee TV’s weekday primetime shows witnessed significant growth and helped the channel grab No. 2 position, Life OK’s special episodes helped the channel touch another high for the second week in a row.

According to TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 5 of TAM 2014 (January 26 – February 1) CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus continued to dominate weekday programming with five of its shows in the top 10. Zee TV increased its share to three shows in the top 10 followed by one each from Colors and SAB TV.

Colors continued to hold the top two slots during the weekend with ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ and ‘India’s Got Talent’.

Filmfare Awards on Sony rated 6.2 TVM over 3.5 hours and contributed 44 Gross TVMs to the channel. Nach Baliye Grand Finale fetched a viewership of 6 TVM.

Weekday toppers (all data in TVM, 000000’s)

Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus witnessed a slight drop in its viewership but managed to retain the top slot. The show recorded 12 TVM this week (last week 13.3 TVM).

Jodha Akbar on Zee TV strengthened its position at No. 2 with 11.1 TVM (last week 10.1 TVM).

Star Plus’ Saathiya grew to 10.2 TVM (last week 9.7).

SAB’s Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma held No. 4 position with an average viewership of 8.9 TVM against last week’s 9 TVM.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus held No. 5 position with an average viewership of 7.9 TVM (last week 8.2 TVM).

Star Plus’ epic series, Mahabharat, returned to No. 6 this week. The show recorded 7.1 TVM (last week 7 TVM).

Qubool Hai on Zee TV jumped two positions to No. 7 with an average viewership of 6.9 TVM (last week 6.2 TVM).

Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke on Zee TV entered the top 10 club again and grabbed the No. 8 position. The show garnered an average viewership of 6.8 TVM (last week 5.9 TVM).

Balika Vadhu on Colors slipped three positions to No. 9 with an average viewership of 6.5 TVM (last week 7.2 TVM).

Pyaar Ka Dard Hai on Star Plus too slipped two positions to No. 10 and fetched 6.4 TVM (last week 6.4 TVM).

Weekend toppers

Comedy Night with Kapil on Colors remained the most watched show of the weekend with an average viewership of 8.9 TVM (last week 10.1).

Colors’ India’s Got Talent recorded 7.4 TVM (last week 7.2).

Riding on the grand finale that fetched 6 TVM, Nach Baliye 6 on Star Plus averaged at 7.9 TVM (last week 3.7 TVM).

Life OK’s Shapath recorded 4.6 TVM (last week 5.0).

Hatim on Life OK fetched 4.1 TVM (last week 4.9).

Sony’s crime series, CID, fetched 4.1 TVM against last week’s 4.4 TVM.

Dance India Dance Season 4 on Zee TV grew to 3.8 TVM (last week 3.5 TVM).

Sony’s other crime show, Crime Patrol, garnered 3.1 TVM (last week 3.6).

Boogie Woogie on Sony recorded 2.8 TVM (last week 2.1).

Star Plus’ crime fiction, Arjun, recorded 1.9 TVM (last week 1.7).

Bh Se Bhade on Zee TV fetched 1.6 TVM (last week 1.7).
