If you’d told us a few years ago that we would someday be getting hair and makeup inspiration from a medieval fantasy TV show involving dragons and swordplay, we’d have called you crazy. And yet, here we are obsessing over Khaleesi’s braids on Game of Thrones.
Which is why we were so excited to come across this roundup of DIY tutorials on how to replicate the most enviable looks from the series, and, not surprisingly, a certain mother of dragon’s hair got top billing.
Our favorite video showcases one of Daenerys Targaryen’s most enviable platinum plaited styles. It’s from the first season and features about half a dozen braids. So, yeah, it’s not for the impatient.

In another video, MAC Cosmetics artist Romero Jennings shares great in-depth details on emulating the bold brow/understated eye combo that’s so popular on the show. The clip also features Bumble and Bumble hairstylist Britney Williams demonstrating how to get Cersei Lannister’s signature halo of braids. Styled along the crown of the head, Williams explains the importance of getting the Queen’s look just right. “All of the curls are going away from her face in the same direction so we have that Cersei wave,” notes the hair guru, “If we switch directions we get more of a beach wave.”
