Tuesday’s (Nov. 29) “Glee” introduced us to Santana’s (Naya Rivera) grandmother, who was not happy to hear her granddaughter was coming out as a lesbian.
Santana said her parents were more supportive, but we didn’t get to meet them. That looks like it will change soon: According to EW, singer Gloria Estefan is in talks to play Santana’s mom in an upcoming episode.
Estefan herself seemed to confirm the news on her Twitter feed Wednesday: “Did anyone see ‘Glee’ last night?” she writes. “Santana could really use a sympathetic mommy right about now, don’t you think??” She also retweeted a couple of news stories about her casting.
Estefan could end up appearing in the same January episode of “Glee” as Ricky Martin, who’s guest-starring as a Spanish teacher. The show will also likely feature some of her music, EW says.
So, yeah, the “no stunt casting” policy seems to be going out the window, at least for this episode. But what do you think of the idea of Estefan as Santana’s mom?
