GSLV-D3 failed to launch successfully

The 50 meter tall GSLV-D3 rocket that was scheduled to launch today on 15 April blasted off at 4.27 pm. This GSLV vehicle was powered by an indigenous cryogenic engine that has taken GSAT-4 satellite but stopped giving singles at the last minute.

ISRO informed that as soon as the rocket reached to the height of 60Km the scientists in control room stopped receiving any signals. It also revealed that among the six, two rocket engines have failed to ignite.

The developed countries like US, Russia, European Space Agency, China and Japan have already been successful with this technology and this launch of GSLV-D3 would have got India in the league of experts of cryogenics.

ISRO chairman K Radhakrishnan said, “The mission objectives are not met fully. There are indications that the cryogenic engine ignited but the vehicle was tumbling and controllability lost.”
