There are a lot of people who prefer the smooth as well as crisp picture of an HDTV than those old CRT sets of yesteryear.

According to a study, octopus behavior demonstrates the mollusks react to high-definition videos when they were unable to be responsive to movies on a SD set.

Renata Pronk together with the colleagues from Macquarie University, Australia, decided to discover whether it is possible to fix the long-time problem with the help of LCD display and HD video.

In 2008, Pronk came to the conclusion that the problem is related to the frame-rate but not image quality. According to Ponk, standard definition video can be regarded as a series of still images instead of a real object.

It was discovered that progressive-scan clip of a “tasty crab” reacted like it was the real deal when it was shown to an octopus.

In the article from the Journal of Experimental Biology, Pronk writes that the octopus jetted towards the screen and attempted to catch the crab and then eat it.

But later it turned out that the crab was not tasty as well as real for the octopus.

It is hoped the Pronk is working on a new test in order octopuses can tell us if it is better to use a 120 hertz model or a 240 herts set.
