Heather Russell, a 10-year-old Canadian YouTuber whose electrifying voice and web popularity has drawn her comparisons to Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber, is the newest signee to Simon Cowell’s Syco imprint.
Heather — who is reportedly being mentored by Grammy winner Rob Fusari — has racked up a devoted following with her performance of the self-penned track “Every Step Of The Way.” Another of Heather’s original songs, “She Needs Love,” is also gaining in popularity on the Web. The tweener frequently performs with her dad, James, and attracted the music mogul’s attention after a video of the pair dueting on “Every Step of the Way” was uploaded to YouTube by her mother Monica Cidade
“Simon just loved her,” a SyCo spokesperson said of the signing. “He said she was amazingly talented from the first time he saw her.”
