Hollywood is mourning the death of one of Tinseltown’s most prolific sculptors. Dr. Frank Ryan, plastic surgeon to a bevy of stars — including Janice Dickson, Gene Simmons, and Lorenzo Lamas and the man responsible for turning Heidi Montag into the woman she is today, died of head injuries he suffered when his Jeep careened off Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on Monday.

He was 50.

Dr. Ryan had spent the day hiking with his dog along the coast of Malibu and was on his way back to his Los Angeles home when he somehow lost control of his vehicle. His pooch was injured but is expected to survive.

Ryan made headlines last November when he performed 10 plastic surgeries on Montag, 23, in one day. In a post on her Twitter page Tuesday, the ex-reality star praised Ryan as an “amazing person.”

“I am devastated to hear the news of Dr. Frank Ryan’s death. He was the most amazing person I have ever known. He was an angel and changed my life and the lives of everyone he met. He was the most brilliant talented surgeon who will ever exist. Dr. Frank Ryan changed the world,” Heidi wrote. “My thoughts and prayers go out to his mother, family, friends, and anyone who was ever blessed enough to meet him. He is in a better place.”

Montag also defended the Good Doctor against suspicions that he may have been impaired during the fatal accident.

“FYI Dr. Ryan never drank, never smoked, he’s never done drugs this was something everyone knows about him. He was always on call 24/7,” she added.

Longtime Dr. Ryan patient Janice Dickinson is also devastated by news of the surgeon’s passing: In a statement to TMZ.com, Dickinson rep remarked: “Janice is deeply, deeply anguished! She is stunned and wants the world to know what a genius Dr. Ryan was. He was a friend and my love goes out to his mother and the rest of the family.”

“Dr. Ryan was a good man. Soft spoken, caring and professional. Our deep felt condolences to his family,” KISS rocker Gene Simmons told TMZ.
