“Lip Sync Battle” went live for the first time ever on Sunday (Sept. 11) and with it came some performances that will be talked about for days to come. When Olympics superstar Michael Phelps was announced as a part of the all-star lineup — which included John Legend, Olivia Munn and Terry Crews — we had a feeling the episode would be something extra special. Boy, were we right!

Zap2it was lucky enough to be in attendance to watch the live show go down in Los Angeles, Ca., and once the lights went down, all bets were pretty much off. We soon discovered a common theme and it goes something like this, “America! F**k yeah!”

Out the gate, Terry Crews took to the stage and proceeded to rip it apart as he reprised his role of President Camacho from “Idiocracy.”

What better way to celebrate all that is baffling and great about our country than to put everyone — Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the First Lady — on stage, while he broke it down Public Enemy style!? If ever there was a moment in time that this character felt relevant, it would be right now.

Olivia Munn also had a trick up her sleeve when she came out with Sia’s “Cheap Thrills.” Continuing with the celebration, two of the Fierce Five soon dropped from the rafters to join her in her routine. Yes, Simone Biles and Aly Raisman were in the building to keep the show pumping along. And even though Biles experienced a bit of a wardrobe malfunction, it didn’t take away from the energy in the room.

If that didn’t get the crowd jumping, leave it to John Legend — who performed Outcast’s “Hey Ya!” — to surprise everyone as he brought out the one and only Stevie Wonder. While it may have been odd watching Stevie Wonder stand and pretend to play the keyboard, one couldn’t help but marvel at the fact that they were in the same room with a musical icon.

And finally, the man of the hour took the stage. It was a rumor early on that Michael Phelps would be performing “Lose Yourself” by Eminem. Yet, after all these special guests, many in the audience were expecting Eminem himself to join the olympian on stage. While that did not happen, it was hard not to feel the impact of the performance.

Ending it with an American flag as his backdrop, “Lip Sync Battle” gave America a big salute in true Spike TV style. We even think we saw President Camacho was bobbing his head to the beat.
