The late night host and the singer-turned-actor are the hottest duo in hip-hop — of the hour anyway. Jimmy and Justin hit the stage of NBC’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Wednesday to perform a medley of rap hits — and the clip is quickly becoming a viral hit.

Backed up by The Roots, hip-hop’s latest dynamic duo kicked off the set with their rendition of The Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight,” commonly hailed as the world’s first rap single. From there, the performance turned into a medley of rap and R&B renditions. Eminem’s “My Name Is,” T.I. & Rihanna’s “Live Your Life,” and Kanye West’s “Golddigger,” were among the slew of hits belted out by the boys. Even The Notorious B.I.G, Missy Elliott, Snoop Dogg, and The Beastie Boys got the parody treatment. Jimmy and Justin wrapped things up with Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ Big Apple anthem, “Empire State of Mind.”

If you don’t recognize all the songs, check out the track listing below!

Sugarhill Gang – “Rapper’s Delight”
Run DMC – “Peter Piper”
Beastie Boys – “Paul Revere”
A Tribe Called Quest – “Award Tour”
Digital Underground – “Humpty Dance”
Snoop Doggy Dogg – “Ain’t Nutt’N But G Thang”
2Pac – “California Love”
Notorious B.I.G. – “Juicy”
The Roots – “The Seed (2.0)”
Eminem – “My Name Is”

Soulja Boy Tell’em – “Crank That”
T.I. ft. Rihanna – “Live Your Life”
Kanye West ft. Jamie Foxx – “Gold Digger”
Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys – “Empire State of Mind”

Though the clip looks all fun, there was lots of rehearsing involved before Fallon and Timberlake took their show on the road. In a phone interview with The Associated Press Thursday, Fallon, 36, said he’s surprised by the success of the skit.

“We never know what’s going to viral or get picked up, and this one’s beyond what we thought it would do. The thing that makes our show kind of different is that we embrace hip-hop…We’re that generation where hip-hop is what we grew on. You know I really needed to practice. You know I can’t rap. I was in my apartment till 2 in the morning the night before doing (the) Soulja Boy (dance) and my wife was like, ‘You’re crazy!’”

Jimmy also praised Justin’s performance. (It appears the boy bander is becoming such a seasoned actor, we forget that he’s actually a musician too!)

“(He) knew all of his parts, all his rhythm was amazing, so much better than mine. Mine was so bad, my gosh, (I thought), ‘I’m going to screw this up.’”
