“Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me. We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot … ” Say sayeth Johnny Depp, methinks, as, according to TheWrap, the actor is seriously considering signing up for a fifth edition of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean.’
When asked last May about rumors of a fifth ‘Pirates’ film, Depp said “It boils down to story, script and filmmaker. It’s not something where I would say, ‘Let’s shoot it next month to get it out by Christmas 2012.’ We should hold off for a bit. They should be special, just like they are special to me.”
How special? Well, now that ‘On Stranger Tides’ has passed $ 1 billion at the worldwide box office, Depp, according to sources, is close to signing a deal for the next installment. And, according to TheWrap, a rough draft for the script was in to the studio and producer Jerry Bruckheimer and others were meeting to work on it and improve it. According to TheWrap, a deal will depend on whether Depp likes the script, but the broad strokes were in place for a deal with the lead actor. (It doesn’t hurt that Depp has earned close to $ 350 million from the franchise).
Depp’s next project: ‘The Lone Ranger,’ in which he plays Tonto.
