American Idol 6 champ Jordin Sparks, 20, is launching her first celebrity scent, titled Because of You.
Described as a “fruity floriental” scent that transitions from a daytime scent to a nighttime scent effortlessly, Because of You is designed as an economic alternative to some of the more pricey perfumes on the market.
“When I was starting this project, I really wanted it to be affordable. I looked at some other celebrity fragrances, and they were like $80. Even now, I look at a fragrance that’s $80, and I can’t bring myself to spend that much,” Sparks explained in a chat with Women’s Wear Daily last week. “In this economy especially, my fans deserve a high quality, reasonably priced scent.”
The scent will retail at an introductory price of $9.50 for a 2.5-oz. bottle when it hits counters next week exclusively at Dots this month. Because of You arrives on fragrance counters at Target Stores nationwide — marked up to $14.95 — on Nov. 1.
