Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Sourav Ganguly has been fined $40,000 while other players in the team have to give $10,000 each for maintaining a slow over rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Delhi Daredevils here.
At the end of the game Wednesday night, KKR was assessed to be two overs behind the required rate after allowances were taken into consideration, an IPL release said.
The fine amount was high since it was KKR’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences.
With Ganguly leading from the front with a half century and some fine fielding, KKR won the match by 15 runs.
Ganguly was earlier fined $20,000 for his team’s slow over rate against Deccan Chargers in the opening IPL outing March 13.
