In news that will have classic TV fans checking their calendars to be sure we haven’t taken a trip back to 1988, The Original Ewings are headed back to Southfork.
Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy, and Linda Gray –- have signed on to appear in the pilot for TNT’s upcoming reboot of the pioneering primetime soap Dallas, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Tuesday.
Hagman, 79, will reprise his role as villainous oil baron JR Ewing. Gray is back on board as JR’s wife, Sue Ellen and even Duffy will return as younger brother Bobby. Josh Henderson of Desperate Housewives fame and Jordana Brewster — the beloved Dr. Jill Roberts on NBC’s Chuck – also star.
The new story focuses on the Ewing offspring as they clash over the future of the family dynasty. Josh will play J.R.’s son, John Ross. Jordana comes on board as Elena, who becomes involved in a love triangle between John and his cousin –- Christopher, the son of Bobby and Pam Ewing.
The original Dallas ran on CBS from 1978 to 1991. TNT has not yet announced a premiere date for its Dallas reboot, but production is expected to begin soon.
