After a decade-long courtship, Leona Lewis called it quits with her childhood sweetheart in June. But by all appearances, Lou Al-Chamaa won’t be letting go of the singer’s checkbook quite so easily.

Al-Chamaa, who has known Leona since the pair were just 10-years-old, has demanded a seven-figure sum from the singer for helping her become famous, insiders in the Lewis Camp dished to London’s The Sun on Friday. While she’s yet to fork over any cash, earlier this week, the “Run” singer offered Lou complete ownership of the $1.2 million Hackney, England home that the former couple once shared. “Not good enough,” says the jaded former flame, who a friend of Leona insists is on a relentless mission to amass a large portion of the English songbird’s fortune. Lou — who currently lives in Miami — is prepared to file a petition for spousal support against Leona on the grounds that he was the former singing Pizza Hut waitress’ common-law husband during their years of shacking up.

While the rest of us thought it was Leona’s amazing voice and X Factor audition (not to mention tolerating Simon Cowell) that secured her the fame she’s enjoying now, apparently Lou reckons that; “he owns a piece of some of her songs and should benefit financially.” Leaving Leona’s friends worried that a long, “messy” legal battle looms for the pop powerhouse.

“He believes he has played a huge role in Leona’s success…He even filled in her X Factor application form and believes he then played a huge role in her success – not only as her partner but also professionally within his new position in the music industry,” one pal explains. “He claims he owns a piece of some of her songs and should benefit financially….It looks like it could get messy.”
