Scandal-scarred starlet Lindsay Lohan has hired former OJ Simpson defense attorney Robert Shapiro to represent her in an appeal of a 90-day prison sentence for probation violation.
Shapiro, who along with the late Robert Kardashian and the late Johnny Cochran made up “The Dream Team” of legal eagles that got OJ acquitted on charges murdering his estranged wife and a Los Angeles waiter in 1994, is apparently set to represent the Mean Girls actress — and he’s already got a plan for her defense.
Rather than appeal her 90-day jail sentence, TMZ sources have revealed that Shapiro, 67, will try to convince Judge Marsha Revel to put Lohan, 24, in a rehab facility and either eliminate or minimize jail time. Shapiro’s specific plan involves having Lindsay take up residence in a live-in rehab facility that he founded. Shapiro, whose son died of a drug overdose in 2005, created The Brent Shapiro Foundation, named after his son, to help people deal with drug and alcohol problems.
It looks like prescription drugs are Lindsay’s poison of choice.
“She has been doctor shopping across the country,” tipsters told Star Magazine this week. “She is utterly unable to control her use of any mind-altering substance.”
Lohan is supposed to turn herself in to begin serving a 90-day jail sentence on July 20.
