Mariah Carey Dreams may be the superstar‘s twelfth fragrance, but she still considers herself a novice at her second-favorite profession. “I humbly call myself a ‘perfumer-in-training’ because I love it so much,” she tells PEOPLE exclusively in a statement. “Almost as much as I love making music!”
“The process of creating a fragrance is exhilarating and it takes me to another place within my creative self,” Carey says of her latest perfume, which is housed in a bottle shaped like a champagne flute as “a tribute to Carey’s festive nature,” according to a press release.
Dreams’ signature scents include notes of Madagascar vanilla, honeysuckle and toasted caramel apple that are meant to reflect different stages of Carey’s life. “Mariah Carey Dreams helps tell my story,” Carey shares. “The different scents derive … from childhood to performing on the world’s stage, to being in love, to feeling loved.”
