Songbird Mariah Carey has teamed up with her equally vocally-inclined mom — opera singer Patricia Hickey Carey — for the holiday classic “O Come All Ye Faithful.” The Careys’ adaptation of the Christmas hit is featured on Mariah’s new album, Merry Christmas II You, in stores Nov. 2.
“We discussed doing a duet and I really wanted to make sure it happened on this Christmas album,” says Mariah. “So I feel really blessed to be able to have this opportunity to have this on record forever – a song with my mom. She’s the one who really got me into being so festive at Christmas.”
Speaking of Mariah’s sophomore Christmas album: “O Santa,” the first single from the album, is currently No. 1 on Billboard’s new Holiday Digital Songs Chart. Ironically, second song earning distinction on the chart is Carey’s 1994 classic, “All I Want for Christmas Is You!”
