Confirmation that the next batch applications called Windows Live Wave 4 cannot be installed by Windows XP users. Following a leak on the Web, Experts wondered about the compatibility of applications for Windows Live Wave 4 with operating system Windows XP. Windows XP is still widely used and its global market share by an estimated nearly 65% according to Net Applications statistics of March 2010.
It is confirmed that so many Windows XP users may not appreciate, vice president of Windows Live at Microsoft has confirmed these fears. Windows Live Essentials Wave 4 will be incompatible with Windows XP. More explicitly, they are all Windows Live Wave 4, which require installation on the computer that are involved. This is not a surprise for Windows Live Movie Maker which has not been updated since XP version 2.1 of Movie Maker, but there will be no Wave 4 for Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Writer, Photo Gallery, or the client Windows Live Messenger.
Windows Live Wave 4 (a probably imminent beta) Chris Jones said that Windows XP will continue to support the current version (not future) Windows Live Essentials, while new versions of services based on the Web will be functional with XP. He alluded in particular to Windows Live Hotmail and SkyDrive.
Chris Jones noted that Windows XP has almost ten years of age, and is no longer a modern graphics platform. ” We need the new graphics platform and controls which are only available on Windows 7 or Windows Vista . ”
So. Windows XP users will be satisfied with the current versions of Windows Live applications, while tasting new services. Remember that Microsoft has already announced that Internet Explorer version 9 will not be offered Windows XP, mostly due to hardware acceleration support Direct2D (Windows Vista has it updates to support some technologies of Windows 7).
