Blossom’s Got a Gig: Mayim Bialik is being promoted to a series regular on The Big Bang Theory.
The ’90s star — perhaps best remembered for the funky, floppy hats she wore as the small screen’s Blossom Russo — plays Amy, a love interest for Sheldon (Jim Parsons), on the smash CBS sitcom. Per her new agreement, Bialik is cast for one season only will appear in an unspecified number of episodes, according to Deadline Hollywood, which first reported the scoop.
“I relate to Amy’s scientific analysis of the world,” Bialik told USA TODAY earlier this year. “I like to think I’m more socially skilled, but I think that what appeals to me about her and about Sheldon is that they see the world in a very scientific way and there’s not a lot of room for fuss or muss.”
She continued: “We’ve all known this kind of personality and there’s nothing wrong with them. They just don’t do things the way other people want them to, but I think that’s sort of the beauty of these characters – they don’t care.”
The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays @ 8/7c on CBS.
