Former Viewster and TODAY hostess Meredith Vieira’s been offered her own gig on The OWN Network. Queen of Talk Oprah Winfrey is wooing the newly-retired journalist for her slightly-troubled cable network, even though Vieira departed the NBC morning show because she’s tired of the daily grind and wants to spend more time with her family, inside spies have revealed to The National Enquirer’s Mike Walker.

“O’s offering Meredith the moon to come aboard — making the proposal so enticing she’s nibbling at the bait,” according to a Harpo Studios informant.

Oprah’s already nabbed Shania Twain, Rosie O’Donnell, Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, and warring father-daughter Ryan and Tatum O’Neal to front the OWN lineup, but Mer could be the network’s biggest coup yet.

“No one understands the pressures of a daily show more than Oprah, who just ended a 25 year stint, so she’s bending over backward to accommodate any schedule Meredith wants — with no traveling, all shows shot close to home and in blocks of two or more so that she can get straight days off and enjoy a family life. Plus, money is no object! Oprah’s excited, telling close pals she thinks a deal is close.”

Do we have any OWN fans in the house? What role, if any, would you like to see Meredith take on the network?
